PARTY #1 Oct. 27th @ matt's place

i am having a Halloween Custom Party on this coming saturday (10/27) at my place. the party will start at 5:30pm and will last as long as it takes. everyone coming to this party needs to WEAR CUSTOM. please be creative and show us how you could act. you will meet lots of friends and have a great cozy saturday night with sweet talks, HOT drinks and wonderful food. one more ask for you, please bring either ONE thing to drink or ONE thing to eat.

REVIEW #1 @ Nov. 1st, 2007

As we talked last week, our first group review will be on Nov. 1st. Each of you has to produce a SHORT FILM to introduce your thesis topic. this film should be no shorter than 2 mins and no longer than 5 mins. please use your time well in producing this interesting film. in addition, please have 2 pages of A3 layouts for this review along with 10 pages of PPT. PLEASE TAKE THESE REQUIREMENTS SERIOUSLY. any lack of these three requirements would make you not qualified for this review, i.e. you will not be able to present your project this time.

心得:
好擁擠的城市,好複雜的交通,如果沒有立刻就選擇,好像就會繞遠路,可怕居住方式,因為作息而決定一個人必須的空間與路徑,一切都戰戰兢兢.我不懂為什麼要這樣子,每個人都好像一種被設計好的程式,不能當機。每一種機能的結合卻都是便利生活也是生活創意。看完之後不開心...

where are your "assignments #2"?

hey, i have only got the 10-page-ppt file from one of you (yi-cheng's). where are the others' files? please send them to me ASAP. i am thinking about meeting you all again at the end of this month (8/31). by the time we meet, you will have to present your assignments #3, which are the diagrams you made for our blogger activities.

schedule change!!

due to my flight changes, we have to reschedule our class. i am arriving taiwan at around 8am on the 30th. i can do class at 2pm on the 30th or lunch meeting at 1200pm on the 31st. sorry about the schedule change. please let me know your decision.

okay, let's go dig up the very root of our sci-fi films...
this animation is the origin of all the recent sci-fi movies including Dark City (1998), the series of The Matrix (The Matrix (1999), The Matrix reloaded (2003), The Matrix revolution (2003), The Animatrix (2003)), A.I. (2001), I, Robot (2004), The Island (2005)...etc. it talks about the reality and cyber space as well as the identities and memories.

there are some great words from it, said by a "human-robot" (her body is almost completely mechanized; only her brain and a segment of her spinal cord are organic), Major Motoko Kusanagi "...there are countless ingredients that make up the human body and mind, like all the components that make up me. as an individual of my own personality, sure i have a face and voice to distinguish myself from the others. but my thoughts and memories are unique only to me. and i carry it as my own destiny. each of those things are just a small part of it. i collect information to use it my own way. all of that blends to create a mixture that forms me and gets right to my consciousness..." followed by a whisper, "what we see now is just like a dim image in a mirror... then we shall see face to face."

單車行(新竹~中壢)

最近為了買新的腳踏車，台北、中壢腳踏車店到處找，且利用網路拍賣來了解二手的行情。經過這2、3個禮拜的比價與評估，決定到竹南以面交的方式買二手腳踏車。平時就很喜歡自助旅行的我，特別喜歡用騎單車的方式來當作移動的交通工具。因此當要從竹南往台北的路上，為了要更了解這些地區的城鄉風貌，就決定以分段騎的方式北上。首先在新竹芎林的阿葉家過夜，然後與他騎著兩輛腳踏車到中攊，這是希望能趁著這段時間來多了解新竹、桃園，不然到了畢業還是只能了解系館的周圍。在這兩天的觀察，得到一些很棒的地區體會，有階梯狀整片成熟稻田與樹林的陪伴，鮮綠與鮮黃所交織美景伴隨日落的餘光，呈現出鄉村特有的烏托邦世界。晚上我和阿葉與他國中朋友到那種路上都沒有住家及路燈的深山裡，體驗城市所感受不到那淫火蟲式的「光」。 待續~

matt's schedule in the summer

i will be in new york city from 7/16 to 7/26, and will be in europe from 8/11 to 8/26. i am pretty sure that i can be online everyday while i am in new york. for the europe trip, i guess i could try to be online every second day or twice a week at least. so please keep this blog updated all the time. by the way, i need all of you to post your schedule to help me find our available date of the 2nd meeting. as i know, Pinchia and CMC will be in japan from 8/1 to 8/9. 冠宇 will not be in taiwan from 8/4 to 8/10 (if i remember right). maybe we will need to reschedule the 2nd meeting to someday between 7/27 and 7/31. please give me your vote of date asap.

assignment #1

we call the 1st month (july) of the summer vacation our "1st phase". our goal is to learn the ways of observation and notation from these series of books. please post any of your opinions while you're reading in process. in addition, i would like to ask all of you to send me a brief of what you have about your thesis topic. just start typing and send it to me by next monday (7/8). this is just a very intial and rough idea of what you're interested in. it could be only a bit more than what some of you've told me in the interviews. you don't need to refine it too much. please use the font size 12 and do it in exactly 1 page of A4 paper in word file. it shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes.
